No, they’re not. I thought they were — I figured they changed the name of “Miss America” to “Miss USA” to be more PC. But I checked the Wikipedia this morning and it turns out they’re two distinct (albeit likely equally dumb) competitions. Miss America rides the float on Thanksgiving, Miss USA gets to continue on to compete to be Miss Universe.
