Items of note

Apparently the Mets are chopping down the centerfield wall at Citi Field from 16 feet to 8 feet, but I think that’s an overstatement. I’m pretty sure only the little cutaway in front of the apple is 16 feet, and the rest of the center-field wall was 10′ 10″. Still, it will at least make the whole thing slightly more uniform, which is nice for aesthetic purposes.

The Mets brought Mookie Wilson and Bob Melvin into the fold yesterday.

Here is more than you probably ever thought you’d read about the dark Filipino karaoke underworld. Fascinating.

Johnny Damon is now totally ingratiating himself to just about anyone who’ll give him the time of day.

Johnny Damon comes off as a bit desperate, yeah?

Love the karaoke article, thanks. I’ll have to remember to abstain from that practice if I’m ever in the Philippines. I mean, I think I can sing a little bit but damn I ain’t risking no gun getting pulled on me.

Oddly, I had the exact opposite reaction. I want to see if I can pull off “My Way” in the Philippines without being brutally murdered, because think of what that would do for my confidence, vocally.

Ted, my Dad currently lives in the phillipines and recently converted his really successful restaurant to a cafe and has a hotel that he usually hosts various Government officials. I could ask him and get back to you. Here is the name of it, it’s run by my Dad’s wife.

        E & R Hotel and Restaurant
E & R Hotel and Restaurant Lebak (that’s the city in the phillipines) Just google it
